Then & Now

A National and State Historic Register 5-acre estate, constructed in 1923, Richlawn's original design in creative eclectic delivers a customized experience for every event.

Historic Mansion. Built in 1923 by tobacco magnate RM Barker, the majestic home as been a fixture in the community for generations.  The high pitched roof is a gothic feature, the stucco façade and tile roof, Mediterranean. The 7,000 square foot mansion consists of 5 bedrooms, and 5 baths and features an elegant dining room, great room, and a 40ft solarium overlooking the river.

Shoreline. A limestone staircase winds through an acre of river cliffs, leading to Barker's Beach--a sandy area along the Ohio River.

Chapel. A late 19th century 2,000 square foot carriage house serves as the event anchor, chapel, and social gathering center--with continuous views of the Ohio River.

Scenic Overlook. Perched on a bluff sixty feet above the water, affording timeless views of the river as it winds through the green hills of Indiana and Kentucky.

River Terrace.  Wrapped around the solarium and columnated porches, the river terrace provides over 4,000 sf of hardscaped patios, including an elegant pool, gazebo, and koi pond.  This natural setting provides the perfect venue to celebrate your special evening as the moonlight reflects on the vast expanses of the Ohio.

Manicured Grounds. With over five acres of property, there are multiple backdrops for your special event, and wherever you choose, your guests will have plenty or room to stroll about and enjoy the grounds.
